Vazquez Family Reptiles, I chose the name because this hobby and
business only became possible with the love and support I received from
my family.

12 years ago, I saw an ad in the local newspaper for a boa. I had never
owned or even knew what the regular phenotype for a boa was. The extent
of my reptile knowledge came from collecting frogs, salamanders,
alligator lizards and kingsnakes from the local creek as a kid. Well, I
ended up purchasing that boa and I became hooked. Soon after, I had a
collection of 4 Columbian Boas, 2 Argentine Boas, 1 Labyrinth and 1
Green Burmese Python, a Brown Roughneck Monitor, a Savannah
Monitor, a Nile Monitor, a Water Monitor and 3 Iguanas. My passion for
reptiles grew like wild fire. I was online trying to find whatever
information I could find, I was in the pet stores asking all the questions I
could think of. Well, I experimented with numerous reptiles but realized
that my main love was boas; so I sold off my other reptiles to focus on
what I loved and knew best.

One of the best moments of my life was when I saw my first albino boa; it
was the best thing I had ever seen. I also remember the hefty price on
them and remember telling myself that I would never be able to afford
one. I’m wandering; let me get back to the topic.

Few years later, I met my future wife to be Tracy.  When I first met Tracy
she did not know anything about snakes.... in fact, she hated them. Slowly
but surely, she involved herself in my hobby and begun doing research
just so that she better understood my passion. Soon enough, we found
ourselves talking genetics. Well, I had approached my wife with idea of
breeding morphs and she believed this was something we could
accomplish and welcomed the idea with no hesitation. Unfortunately,
many relatives and friends thought I was crazy for investing money in my
boas and thought that my dream to be a false one. My wife on the other
hand, consistently has and still does support my dream (now our dream)
and thinks my ideas are genius, well maybe not that good but close. My
son (3 yrs. at the time this was written) has grown a huge love for OUR
boas and has even memorized their names. He is the first one there when
he knows I am taking one out of their enclosures.

Well, with the education my wife and I have provided; many members of
our family (father, little sister and little brothers, mother-in-law and
even brother-in-law) now also believe in our dreams and goals and
strongly believe it's a matter of time before we arrive to our destination.
This is why Vazquez Family Reptiles exists.
